7 Mohawks Named To PGCBL All-Star Game
A league high 7 Mohawks were named to the PGCBL All-Star Game next week in Albany. Joe Genord was named the starting catcher and Chris Givin was named the starting second baseman, while Tyler Frank and Chris LaVorgna were named reserves. Three pitchers were also named All-Stars; Griffin Roberts, Austin Keen and Chase Haney. Here's the full release from the PGCBL:
The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League is proud to announce the rosters for the 2016 PGCBL All-Star Game.
The 2016 PGCBL All-Star Game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 20, in Albany, New York. The game will feature all-stars from the PGCBL East taking on the all-stars of the PGCBL West.
Blake Nation, who led the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs to the 2015 PGCBL Championship, will lead the PGCBL East All-Stars. Matt Burch, the head coach of the Elmira Pioneers, will guide the PGCBL West All-Stars.
"The PGCBL All Star Game has been a extraordinary showcase for the great young talent in our league. More than 75% of the players who participate in the game are eventually sign professional contracts," said PGCBL President Jeff Kunion. "The Albany Dutchmen have planned a great day for the fans. It is going to be a fun filled event."

The rosters for each team were voted on by coaches in the PGCBL.
The All-Star Game will feature the league’s eight leading hitters in batting average and also the leaders in the six major statistical categories.
Some of the league’s top sluggers will be on display with Amsterdam catcher Joe Genord, who leads the PGCBL with five home runs, slated to start at catcher for the East and reigning PGCBL Player of the Week Chris Kwitzer, who owns the league’s highest OPS, also starting for the East.
The West will have leading RBI man Ben Brookover in the starting lineup and also ace pitcher Brennen Smith from the Victor RailRiders, who has struck out a league-leading 40 batters.
Tickets for the All-Star Game can be purchased here. The day will also include a Home Run Derby and an autograph session.
The PGCBL is affiliated with Perfect Game USA, the largest independent scouting service in the country. This year, more than than 1,250 professional players have either worn the uniform of a PGCBL team or participated in a Perfect Game USA event.
