Mohakws Win 9th Straight

Box Score

The Amsterdam Mohawks top the Utica Blue Sox 7-4 on a rainy Monday night at Donovan Stadium.  The Mohawks out hit the Sox 11-5 and got on the board quickly, grabbing a 4-0 lead, two of those runs thanks to Liam Wilson’s (Canisius) home run over the left field wall in the top of the first.  Utica would come back adding two in the third and one in the fifth after Amsterdam added another one in the top half of the fifth, making it a two run game 5-3.  Amsterdam would then add one in the sixth and one in the eighth, and would hold on to the three run lead and take tonight’s game 7-4.

Mathieu Gauthier (NC State) got the start and the win for Amsterdam going five innings allowing only three runs on three hits and four walks.  He had two strikeouts in that time.  Dylan Leahy (Keystone College) was booked with the loss for Utica pitching six innings allowing six runs on nine hits and two walks.  He had five strikeouts through those six innings.  Carter Knapek (UMass) came in and got the save.
