9 Mohawks Named To PGCBL All-League Teams

A league high 9 Mohawks were selected to the PGCBL All-League Teams. 6 made the First Team and 3 made the Second Team.

 

 

 

Cade Citelli - Pitcher

Cade went 5-0 with a 0.98 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 36.2 innings.

In his final start, Citelli went 7 innings allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits and 1 walk with 10 strikeouts, including an immaculate inning as the Mohawks defeated the Muckdogs in the first game of the PGCBL Championship.

 

Brett Coker - Shortstop

This is the second straight year Coker has made the PGCBL First Team, last year it was at third base and this year at shortstop.

This season Brett hit .357 in 46 games with 4 home runs, 10 doubles, 33 RBI, 35 runs scored and stole 11 bases.

 

Santhosh Gottam - Pitcher

Santhosh went 3-0 with 2 saves, a 0.96 ERA and recorded 43 strikeouts in 37.1 innings this summer.

Gottam started the deciding Game 3 of the Championship and went 7 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits. He was named the Finals MVP as well as the PGCBL Reliver of the Year.

 

Aidan Kidd - Pitcher

Aidan went 3-1 during the regular season with a 0.82 ERA and struck out 49 batters in 32.2 innings pitched.

Kidd didn't allow a run to score until his 7th start of the season and 4 of his starts resulted in a shutout victory, which the Mohawks pitching staff recorded a team record of 9 this season.

 

Gage Miller - Second Base

Gage hit .400 during the regular season and including playoffs, hit 9 home runs, 16 doubles, 37 RBI, scored 50 runs and stole 17 bases.

Miller was also named PGCBL Player of the Year.

 

Jack Sylvia - Pitcher

Jack went 4-0 with a 0.78 ERA in 23 innings pitched with 17 strikeouts.

During the regular season, Sylvia only allowed 2 earned runs over his 14 appearances.

 

Collin Brougham - Pitcher

Collin went 3-0 with a 0.98 ERA in 27.1 innings pitched with 30 strikeouts.

Brougham only allowed 2 extra base hits and 4 walks during the regular season.

 

Nick Giamarusti - Center Field

Nick hit .351 during the regular season and including playoffs hit 7 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, had 25 RBI, scored 28 runs and stole 18 bases.

In the Championship clinching game, Nick used his speed to collect 3 bunt singles with 1 RBI and scored twice.

 

Hunter Thomas - Catcher

Hunter hit .301 with 4 home runs, 7 doubles, 27 RBI and scored 14 runs.

On June 19 he hit 2 home runs drove in 6 runs in a 12-7 win at Watertown.

The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) is pleased to announce its 2022 All-League First and Second Teams. A total of 38 players were recognized for their performances during the 2022 summer campaign.

Highlighting the PGCBL All-League First Team were Player of the Year Gage Miller (Bishop State C.C.), Pitcher of the Year Nolan Sparks (Rochester), and Relief Pitcher of the Year Santhosh Gottam (Brown).

Other notable selections include outfielders Aaron Whitley (Rochester), who hit a league-high .402 for the Newark Pilots, and Pete Durocher (Manhattan) from Mohawk Valley, who paced all batters with a league-best 57 hits. Watertown third baseman Tyree Bradley (Bloomfield), who drove in PGCBL-leading 47 runs, plus Mohawk Valley’s home run king Garrett Musey (Goldey-Beacom), were also honored for their powerful swings.

The Amsterdam Mohawks, who won the 2022 PGCBL title, led all teams with nine selections. Utica and Batavia followed with five and four, respectively. Mohawk Valley, Saugerties, and Watertown were each represented with a trio of All-League picks.

In total, 13 of the league’s 16 teams placed at least one player on the 2022 PGCBL All-League Teams.

The PGCBL All-League Teams were voted on by the league’s head coaches.
