Mohawks Shutout Dragons, 12-0

By Ethan Frank

Box Score

The Amsterdam Mohawks improved to 13-2 with a 12-0 shutout victory over the Glens Falls Dragons tonight at Rao Family Stadium. Nick Smith (Evansville) started his first game of the season and pitched 5 shutout innings for the Mohawks to earn the win. Smith has now thrown 12.1 innings this season and only allowed one earned run.

On the offensive side, the Mohawks good eye at the plate paid dividends with a pair of bases-loaded walks in their victory. Keith Jones (Washington State) and Matt Shaw (Maryland) both had multiple RBI's for Amsterdam as well. This was the first game in which the new PGCBL mercy rule was enacted as the game was called after a Matt Shaw RBI single made it 12-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Mohawks hit the road for the next two nights first by playing in Saugerties against the Stallions Saturday and in Little Falls to face the Diamonddawgs on Father's Day on Sunday.
