Stallions Shutout Mohawks, 1-0

Andres Auffant (Franklin Pierce) and Connor Bruce (Georgia Southern) threw a 4-hit shutout as the Saugerties Stallions blanked the Amsterdam Mohawks 1-0 on Wednesday night at Cantine Field.

Keith Jones (Washington State) was the only Mohawks player to get to Auffant as he singled off him in the first and fourth innings. Those were the only 2 hits Andres Auffant would allow as he pitched 6 shutout innings with no walks and 7 strikeouts to pick up his first win of the season.

Connor Bruce went the final 3 innings allowing 2 hits and no walks with 2 strikeouts to pick up his first save of the season. He only allowed a pair of singles in the eighth inning to Matt Shaw (Maryland) and CJ Funk (Pitt) for the Mohawks only other 2 hits of the game.

Shane Harris (Evansville) was the tough luck loser as his record fell to 1-1. He went 5 innings allowing 1 run on 6 hits with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. The lone run was a Josh Stevenson (LSU) home run that came with 2 outs in the second inning.

James Salemme (Union) pitched 2 hitless innings allowing 1 walk with 4 strikeouts and Zach Cable (Oklahoma State) pitched a hitless inning with 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

The Mohawks are back home tomorrow night to face the Utica Blue Sox at 6:35.
