The Amsterdam Mohawks took down the Saugerties Stallions by a score of 6-2 in Amsterdam on Friday night. Dylan Carmouche (Mississippi State) got the win for the Mohawks and Bryce Reimer (Bucknell College) was hit with the loss for the Stallions.
The Stallions took an early lead 2-0 in the top of the first thanks to an RBI single by Kip Fougerousse (Indiana University) and a fielder’s choice by Tyler Kelder (St. Bonaventure).
The Mohawks responded in the bottom of the second scoring 4 runs with 2 outs. Jackson Phinney (University of Pittsburgh) hit a triple and sent Kai Roberts (University of Utah) home for the first run. Cam Hill (University of Kentucky) then got an RBI base knock and Phinney scored making it a 2-2 game. Stone Miyao (University of Hawaii) followed with an RBI single as Cam Hill scored giving the Mohawks a 3-2 lead. Finally, Bryce Eblin (Alabama University) singled as Stone Miyao scored from first, getting the fourth run of the inning to make the score 4-2.
The game remained 4-2 until the bottom of the eighth when the Mohawks scored a pair of runs. Cam Hill led off the bottom of the eighth with a home run giving the Mohawks a three run lead. Brett Coker (Middle Tennessee State) then hit an RBI triple sending Stone Miyao home to make it a 6-2 ball game.
Cole Patten started for the Mohawks (Seton Hall) and went the first 3.2 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 5 walks and 1 strikeout. Dylan Carmouche came in with the bases loaded in the fourth and got the strikeout to end the inning. He went 3.1 innings and got out of another bases loaded jam in the sixth inning. Dylan did not allow a run and gave up just 2 hits with 3 walks and recorded 8 strikeouts as he improved to 3-0 on the season. Connor Brandon (University of Toledo) and Zach Cable (Oklahoma State) each struck out the side in the eighth and ninth to end the game as Mohawks pitching collected 15 strikeouts.
The Mohawks improved to 17-4 on the season, while the Stallions fell to 13-6. Bryce Reimer took the loss for Saugerties dropping him to 0-2. He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits in 4 innings with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Amsterdam is off this weekend and return to action on Monday as they host the Albany Athletics on Monday night at Rao Family Stadium.
