Amsterdam, NY -- Mohawks Sweep Doubleheader over Oneonta

The Mohawks beat the Oneonta Outlaws in both ends of a doubleheader on Thursday from Rao Family Stadium in Amsterdam. The Mohawks improved to 27-6 with the two victories and the Outlaws fell to 8-19.

In game 1, the Outlaws scored two runs in the first but then were matched in the bottom half by a 2-RBI double off the bat of Jake Reinisch (Wake Forest). The Outlaws came back with a 4-run top of the second, all 4 crossing the plate after a grand slam by Riley Hall (Coker) to make it a 6-2 game. The Mohawks didn’t let the game get away from them thanks to a five-run bottom of the third headlined by a three-run Reinisch homer. Bryce Eblin (Alabama) also added a two-run shot to push the Mohawks ahead, who eventually won 10-7.

Carter Frederick (Auburn) was the winning pitcher for game 1 and the loss was awarded to Jake Sandridge (St. Marys).
Game 2 was all Mohawks, who broke out to an early 4-0 lead by scoring 4 in the bottom of the first. Another 2-RBI double from Reinisch headlined the bottom of the first for Amsterdam, and gave him a 7-RBI night. Keaton Mark (Heidelberg) hit a solo shot and also drove in another run during the Outlaws comeback attempt in the bottom of the seventh, but their efforts were not enough. The Mohawks took game 2 by a score of 5-3 to complete the doubleheader sweep.

The victory went to Cole Patten (Seton Hall) who went 5 innings with 6 punchouts and only gave up one hit, the homerun to Mark. The loss went to Kyle Locklear (Clarkson).

The Mohawks host the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs on Friday Night and then have another matchup with the Outlaws on Saturday, this time in Oneonta.
