In their final meeting of the season, the Mohawks finished with a perfect 9-0 record against the Glens Falls Dragons as they defeated them by a score of 14-3 on Friday night at East Field.
The Mohawks got to work early on Friday as they scored in each of the first 3 innings held an 8-0 lead after 3. The game began with a Matt Shaw (Maryland) double, and he scored on a Jake Reinisch (Wake Forest) double. Kai Roberts (Utah) followed with a 2-run double that scored Reinisch and Bryce Eblin (Alabama).
The second inning saw Matt Shaw hit a 2-run home run, his 9th of the season and in the third inning had Stone Miyao (Hawaii) hit a 2-run single and Davis Meche (Mississippi State) drive him in with a single.
After facing the minimum for the first 3 innings, the Dragons finally got to Mohawks starter Cooper Barnum (Washington State) in the fourth inning. John Collins (Middlebury) and Cory Listing (Coker) had back-to-back singles to start the inning and James Murphy (St. John Fisher) drove them in with a 2-run triple. Cole Durkan (Stony Brook) hit a sacrifice-fly later in the inning to bring home Murphy as the Dragons cut the Mohawks lead to 8-3.
The Mohawks got those 3 runs back in the top of the fifth. Riley Langerman (Maryland) led off the inning with a single and scored on a Davis Meche single. Hunter McLean would score on a wild pitch and Davis Meche scored on an RBI groundout by Brett Coker.
The Mohawks would go on to score a single run in each of the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to go on to the 14-3 win. Matt Shaw was a triple shy of the cycle, going 4-for-6 with 2 singles, a double, a home run, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Jake Reinisch reached base 6 times, going 3-for-3 with 3 walks, a double, 1 RBI and 4 runs scored.
Cooper Barnum went the first 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts, he improved to 3-0 with the win. Matt Gonzales (Barton), Von Baker (Cornell) and Jack Sullivan (UConn) each pitched a scoreless inning to close out the game. Keegan Jarvais (Brockport) took the loss falling to 0-3. He only lasted 2 innings, giving up 7 runs (5 earned) on 5 hits, 3 walks and 2 strikeouts.
The Mohawks return home tomorrow night to face the Saugerties Stallions at 6:35.
