Mohawks Round Out 2022 Coaching Staff

MOHAWKS ANNOUNCE HIRING OF FOUR ASSISTANT COACHES:
Patten, Breen, Spagnola, Christodulu will join Griffin in 2022
We are happy to announce the hiring of four assistant coaches, with three returning from 2021, for the 2022 season. Zach Breen will return as Pitching Coach, with Robbie Spagnola and Greg Christodulu returning as bench coaches. 2016 Mohawks player Nick Patten will replace Cam Coons as Hitting Coach. Coons took a full-time position as an Assistant Coach at Marshall University this past fall.
BREEN, a former Mohawk standout pitcher, who serves as Director at Frozen Ropes Albany, will be in his second season on the Mohawks staff. SPAGNOLA, who spent the 2021 season in the University of Kentucky baseball program is now an Assistant Coach at Manhattan College, will begin his 3rd season on the Mohawks staff. CHRISTODULU, the longtime Head Coach at local powerhouse Shenendehowa HS, will be in his 6th season on the Mohawks staff. Shen won the NYS Large School State Championship in 2016 on a team that featured Atlanta Braves standout RHP Ian Anderson, his twin brother Ben who is a AA pitcher for the Texas Rangers, and Atlanta Hawks star forward Kevin Huerter. PATTEN, was an All-star 1B for the Mohawks in 2016 while playing at the University of Delaware. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates and played professionally for 3 years before heading back to Delaware as an assistant coach.
The four assistant join Head Coach Keith Griffin, who will be returning for his 13th year with the team, in hopes to capture his 8th PGCBL Championship. The 2022 PGCBL schedule will be released in December with an anticipated start date of the first week in June.
