On April 19, Zach Logue became the thirteenth former Mohawk to reach the Major Leagues as he made his  debut for the Oakland A’s as they hosted the Baltimore Orioles.

Logue pitched for the Mohawks in 2015 as a freshmen from Kentucky. He was named co-PGCBL Pitcher of the Year as he went 7-0 in the regular season and 1-0 in the playoffs. Including playoffs, Zach made 10 starts for the Mohawks pitching to a 2.21 ERA in 57 innings with 55 strikeouts and 14 walks.

Zach was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 9th Round of the 2017 MLB Draft and advanced up to Triple-A in the Blue Jays organization. On March 16, 2022 the Blue Jays made a blockbuster trade with the Oakland A’s as Zach was one of 4 prospects traded to the A’s in exchange for All-Star third basemen Matt Chapman.

Logue made his debut in the top of the 6th as the A’s trailed the Orioles 1-0. Ramon Urias was the first batter up and Logue immediately recorded his first career strikeout retiring Urias on 3 pitches. Logue then induced 2 groundouts to work a 1-2-3 inning.

Oakland scored 2 in the bottom of the 6th to take a 2-1 lead and Logue returned for the 7th inning. Logue retired the first batter and then faced Cedric Mullins, who was a member of the Utica Blue Sox in 2014. Mullins singled up the middle as Logue surrendered his first career hit. After a walk Logue was pulled, but the bullpen held on to the 2-1 lead and Logue was the winning pitcher in his debut.
