Moore, Gardiner Get Mohawks Back on Track in Oneonta

After suffering their first loss of the month, the Amsterdam Mohawks bounced back with a 5-1 victory over the Oneonta Outlaws on Saturday night at Damaschke Field.

The Mohawks got on the board in the first inning as Gage Miller singled and scored on a Zach Gardiner single. It was Gage Miller’s 41st run scored of the season, which set a new single season record, surpassing the mark Josh Gardiner set in 2013.

Zach Gardiner scored in the fifth increasing the lead to 2-0.

Collin Brougham started and pitched 5 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 walk with 5 strikeouts. Von Baker and Arlon Butts each pitched scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

In the seventh, Connor Moore led off with a double and scored on a Cameron Love groundout and in the eighth, Zach Gardiner scored on a Mark Black single to make it 4-0.

Nolan Lamere pitched the eighth and Oneonta scored their only run of the game as Devin Boone reached on a 2-out walk and scored on a Dylan Broderick RBI double to make it 4-1.

In the ninth, Brett Coker added an RBI single that drove in Connor Moore making it 5-1 and Conner Whittaker shut the door in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the win.

The Mohawks outhit the Outlaws 15-4 as they improved to 35-5-1 on the season. Connor Moore and Zach Gardiner each recorded 3 hits and scored 2 runs. Collin Brougham was the winning pitcher improving to 3-0 on the season. Amsterdam will be off on Sunday before hosting the Albany Dutchmen on Monday. The Outlaws fell to 22-21-1 as Daniel Elliot took the loss falling to 0-1.
