It was a rough night for the Mohawks as their 8-game winning streak was snapped in an 8-0 loss to the Saugerties Stallions at Cantine Field Wednesday night.

The 12-win Mohawks now have 3 losses this season and 2 of them have come at the hands of the Stallions while playing in Saugerties.

The Stallions got on the board in the second inning with a pair of unearned runs off Mohawks starter Colin Kidd.

In the third Ethan Conrad homered off Justus Agosto, it was Conrad’s league leading 4th home run of the season as he went 3-for-3 and raised his average to .444.

Saugerties added a run un the fifth on a Bayram Hot fielder’s choice to give the Stallions a 4-0 lead.

Zach Hernandez and James Redick kept the Stallions bats at bay for 2 innings without allowing a hit, but they got going again as they scored 4 unearned runs off Mason Veronezi in the eighth. Matt McIntire hit an RBI double, and Justin Ford put the icing on the cake with a 2-run home run to put the Stallions up 8-0.

Evan Haeger was the lone bright spot in a Mohawks lineup that only recorded 3 total hits. Hager tripled in the third, walked in the sixth and stole 2 bases to end up at third again, only to be left stranded there both times.

Saugerties retook first place in the East Division as they improved to 13-2-1. Sean Dertinger picked up the win improving to 1-0, while Colin Kidd took the loss falling to 0-1 as the Mohawks now sit at 12-3.
