Rispoli, Fawkey Lead Mohawks Over Dawgs, 15-4

The Mohawks scored 10 runs by the third inning en route to a 15-4 rout on the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs Tuesday night at Shuttleworth Park.

The DiamondDawgs actually took the lead first as Brody Rasmussen hit a 2-run single to center that scored Cristino Tufano and Luke Nomura.

The Mohawks got to work in the bottom of the first as Cade Ladehoff doubled to score Michael O’Brien. Pete Daniel followed with a sac-fly scoring Jackson Natili to tie the game and Liam Willson hit a double scoring Ladehoff as the Mohawks took a 3-2 lead after 1.

Mohawk Valley answered back in the bottom of the second as Luke Nomura hit an RBI single to right that scored Major Pellien to tie the game at 3, but Cristino Tufano was thrown out at the plate by right fielder Evan Haeger to end the inning.

In the bottom of the second the Mohawks pulled back in front as Michael O’Brien hit a 2-run double scoring Rob Rispoli and Evan Haeger to put the Mohawks up  5-3.

Amsterdam delt the knockout blow in the bottom of the third with a 5-run inning. After Pete Daniel and Liam Willson were hit by pitches and Drake Digiorno loaded the bases with a single, Austin Fawley drove in Daniel and Willson with a 2-run double. Next up was Rob Rispoli who drove in Digiorno and Fawley with a 2-run triple and then Rispoli scored on a Sebastian Harden single to make it 10-3 Mohawks.

After taking a few innings off, Mohawks Valley got a run back in the sixth as Brody Rasmussen scored on a passed ball making it 10-4.

The Mohawks answered right back with another 5-run inning in the bottom of the sixth. Sebastian Harden led off with a single and Evan Haeger followed with a double. Javar Williams followed with a single that scored Harden and Evan Hager scored on a wild pitch. Aiden Stewart hit a sac-fly to left to score Williams. Jake Sparks would single in Jimmy Dionne and Austin Fawley would drive in his third run of the game with an RBI single that scored Sparks making it 15-4.

As the margin reached surpassed 10 runs, Justin Shadek made quick work of the Dawgs in the seventh to put an early end to the game and secure the 15-4 victory.

Rob Rispoli led the way going 3-for-3 with a triple, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. Austin Fawley went 2-for-4 with a double 3 RBI and a run scored and Michael O’Brien went 2-for-3 with a double, 2 RBI and a run scored,

Matthew Heiberger got the win  improving to 3-0 going 3 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. James Redick pitched the next 2 innings allowing 1 hit and 1 walk with 2 strikeouts and Justin Shadek pitched the sixth and seventh allowing an unearned run on no hits with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.

The Mohawks improved to 18-3 with the win. The DiamondDawgs fell to 11-10-1 as Austin Barnao took the loss falling to 1-2 after allowing 5 runs in 2 innings of work.
