Box Score
The game was over before it started as the Mohawks scored 5 runs in the first inning in a 13-3 victory over the Glens Falls Dragons Wednesday night at East Field.
After a strikeout to start the game, Michael O’Brien and Evan Hager each hit singles which set the stage for a Jimmy Dionne 2-run double. Pete Daniel reached on an error and Rob Rispoli drove in Jimmy Dionne on a groundout. Daniel and Drake Digiorno would each score on wild pitches as the Mohawks led 5-0 after 1.
It would stay that way until the fourth when each team would score a run. Austin Fawley scored on a Javar Williams groundout for the Mohawks and Stephen Katch homered for the Dragons to make it 6-1.
The Katch home run was the only blemish on an outstanding outing from Drew Nelson. Nelson earned his league leading 4th win of the season, going 4 innings allowing 2 hits, just the 1 run, walking 2 and striking out 10, his ERA went up, but is still the lowest in the PGCBL at 0.86.
Amsterdam would add another 4 runs in the fifth as Jimmy Dionne hit another double and scored on a Pete Daniel sac-fly. Sebastian Harden hit an RBI triple scoring Drake Digiorno and would score on a wild pitch. Aiden Stewart hit an RBI double to score Austin Fawley to make it 10-1.
Peyton Fall would pitch 2 perfect innings with 5 strikeouts, bringing us to the seventh inning Amsterdam added 3 runs on an Aiden Stewart single scoring Drake Digiorno and a Javar Williams 2-run single scoring Aiden Spalitta and Stewart.
Glens Falls would add 2 unearned runs off Mason Veronezi in the bottom of the seventh, but it was not enough to get the margin within 10 as the game ended there with the Mohawks winning 13-3.
Amsterdam improved to 19-3 with their 7th straight win, while the Dragons fell to 3-17-1.
