13 hits lead Mohawks over Dragons, 10-2

The Mohawks got to work early as they recorded 13 hits in a 10-2 victory over the Glens Falls Dragons at East Field on Thursday night.

Javar Williams and Drake Digiorno both walked to start the game and Evan Haeger delivered the first blow as he hit a 2-run double to left. Jimmy Dionne would come up later in the inning and drive in Hager with a single to right as the Mohawks took a 3-0 lead in the first.

In the fourth the Mohawks got back to work as Pete Daniel reached on a leadoff walk and scored on a Javar Williams single. Evan Haeger then doubled again which scored Williams and Haeger would score on a Zach Eldred double as Amsterdam took a 6-0 lead.

In the sixth, Aiden Stewart singled to lead off the inning and would score on a Javar Williams double making it 7-0.

The Dragons would finally get on the board in the sixth after Colin Kidd dominated for the first 5 innings. Christian Mote drew a 1-out walk, Cato Kleinman followed with a single and Cody Meier walked to load the bases. A wild pitch would allow Mote to score and that was all from Kidd as James Redick entered the ballgame. He would strike out the next 2 batters, but a wild pitch would allow Kleinman to score the second run cutting the Mohawks lead to 7-2.

Amsterdam added 1 in the ninth as Manny Santos scored on a Drake Digiorno groundout and 2 in the ninth as Zach Eldred scored on a Steven Spalitta single and Jake Sparks scored on a Manny Santos sac-fly to right to make it 10-2.

Javar Williams and Jimmy Dionne each had 3 hits, while Evan Haeger had 2 doubles and 3 RBI in the game.

Colin Kidd got the win improving to 1-1 as he went 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts. James Redick got his first save going 3.2 scoreless innings allowing 4 hits and 3 walks with 5 strikeouts. Gabe Gifford took the loss falling to 0-1 on the season.
