Box Score

The strength of the Mohawks pitching staff was on full display as the 5 pitchers used only allowed 2 hits and racked up 16 strikeouts in a 8-2 win over the Oneonta Outlaws on Saturday night at Damaschke Field.

The game started with Oneonta taking a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning as Jaden Ross worked a 9-pitch walk off Mohawks starter Zach Eldred to start the game and scored on a Colton Harrison sac-fly to center field.

Amsterdam almost got that run back in the second inning as Austin Fawley tripled to right but was left stranded at third.

After multiple hard hit balls the first time through the order, the Outlaws replaced starter Logan Marquez with Jordan Goble. With 1 on and 2 out, it looked like Goble would put up another zero, but he plunked Jackson Natili and that brought up Cade Ladehoff. He took the first pitch he saw and lined a 2-run double to left scoring Natili and Javar Williams as the Mohawks took a 2-1 lead.

The Outlaws would tie the game in the sixth as Jaden Ross drew a leadoff walk from Peyton Fall and scored on the overthrow as he was stealing third.

The Mohawks would grab the lead right back in the top of the seventh as Jake Sparks was hit by a pitch and Sebastian Harden walked to set the table for Javar Williams as he hit a line drive to center that got under the glove of the center fielder and allowed 2 runs to score. Rob Rispoli then followed with an infield single to third that scored Williams and gave the Mohawks a 5-2 lead.

Amsterdam would add some insurance in the ninth. After 2 hit batters and a walk, Austin Fawley would score on a wild pitch. Then Jackson Natili would hit a 2-run single to right scoring Jake Sparks and Sebastian Harden as the Mohawks took an 8-2 lead.

The Mohawks used 5 pitchers in the game. Zach Eldred started and gave up 1 run on 2 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in 3 innings. The Mohawks bullpen did not allow a hit for the rest of the game. Peyton Fall gave up an unearned run in 2.1 innings with 4 strikeouts. Parker Aikens got the win improving to 3-0 as he went 1.2 innings with 4 strikeouts. Ryan Pittz got 2 strikeouts in the eighth and Brenden Kline struck out all 3 batters he faced in the ninth.

Lawrence Ellinson took the loss falling to 1-1as the Outlaws now sit at 14-14-2 on the season. With the win, the Mohawks improved to 27-5.
