For the third time in the past four seasons the Mohawks and Stallions played a mid-July game in Amsterdam and it ended in a tie. Bray Touchstone was responsible for every Mohawks run on Tuesday as the game ended in a 5-5 tie.
Saugerties scored first in the third inning after 3 straight singles loaded the bases to start the inning. Camren Carroll drove in Dylan Fitzsimmons on a fielder’s choice to make it 1-0.
In the bottom of the fourth, John McKillop led off the inning with a single and Bray Touchstone followed with a 2-run home run to give the Mohawks a 2-1 advantage.
In the fifth Touchstone stepped in with the bases loaded and drew a 4-pitch walk to give Amsterdam a 3-1 lead.
Saugerties loaded the bases in the sixth and Logan Sanchez was hit by a pitch to force in Adonis Medina to make it 3-2.
In the seventh, the Stallions took the lead as George Baker hit a 2-run single with the bases loaded that scored Camren Carroll and Dylan Passo to take a 4-3 lead. Baker was thrown out trying to extend the hit to a double which ended the inning there.
The Mohawks tied the game in the eighth as Bray Touchstone hit a little league home run. Officially in went down as a double with him advancing scoring on a throwing error by catcher which made it 4-4.
With a runner placed on second as the game went to extra innings, the Stallions got a run across in the tenth with a George Baker sac-fly.
In the bottom of the tenth, Luke Filippi was the runner placed on second. John McKillop bunted Filippi over to third. Bray Touchstone hit an infield single to short that scored Filippi to tie the game back up at 5. Touchstone stole second, but a strikeout and a fly out ended the game as a tie.
It was the Mohawks second tie of the year as they now sit at 25-7-2. It was the Stallions first tie of the season as they are now 20-12-2.
The Mohawks will return home tomorrow as they face the Glens Falls Dragons starting at 6:35.
