On a chilly night in the quaint village of Boonville, NY the Amsterdam
Mohawks
batters came out red-hot as they delivered 18 base-hits in a

17-7 victory against the Adirondack Trail Blazers.

The defending champions of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League
improved to 4-6 as they won consecutive games for the first time this
season. Adirondack fell to a record of 3-5.

Dylan Smith (Auburn) and Kyle Barrett (Kentucky) each socked two-run
homers early in the game. Both players had just returned to the lineup
after spending significant time on the shelf with early-season
injuries. Barrett finished 3-for-6 with three runs scored.

The 17 runs is the all-time franchise high for the Mohawks in their
three seasons in the PGCBL as was their 18-hit output. Amsterdam had
scored 16 runs two different times in the past couple of seasons.

Ronnie Bernick (Canisius) had a three-run double as part of a big
six-run rally in the sixth inning when Amsterdam extended their lead
to 13-3.

Brian Ruby (Binghamton) was 3-for-5 with a double and a run.

Adirondack trimmed the margin to 13-7 by the seventh but the Mohawks
finally put the game away for good with four more tallies in the
eighth

The Mohawks return to Shuttleworth Park Wednesday night against the
Elmira Pioneers with lefty Dylan Dwyer (Kentucky) starting for
Amsterdam. They also have a Fireworks Night game against Glens Falls
slated for Friday.
