The Brewers scored 12 runs over the first five innings to outlast the Mohawks at a soggy Donovan Stadium on Saturday night. The game started an hour late due to early-evening rain showers.

Utica sprinted out of the gate with three scores in the first, two in the second, three in the fourth and four in the fifth to amass a 12-1 lead. Michael Pierson (App. State), Jay Gonzalez (Auburn), Ryan Valdes (Florida State), Chase Livingston (URI) and Joe Gallub (Concordia, N.Y.) all drove in two runs for the Brewers while K’Shawn Smith (Stetson) went 3-for-5 and scored three runs.

Utica starter Hunter McIntosh (Alabama State) twirled a three-hitter over five innings and combined with Nathan Hunt (Wagner) to hold Amsterdam to score one in the over the first seven frames.

The Mohawks scored six in the eighth and ninth but could not pull closer than five. Dylan Smith (Auburn) went 3-for-4 with a game high four RBI. Jordan Ebert (Auburn) added three hits.
