AMSTERDAM – The Amsterdam Mohawks (6-6) got back to .500 for the first time since before the first pitch of the season with a shutout of the Watertown Rams. The Rams could only muster three hits off of Zack Brown (Kentucky) and Joe Randall (Fairfield).

Jonathon Pryor (Wake Forest) broke out of a hitting slump to start the season with a tremendous stat line. Pryor finished the game 2-5 with three runs scored and a double as well. John Razzino (Franklin Pierce) finished 2-4 with two singles and two RBI.

The stars were not in line for most of the Watertown players. Only three players, Joe Ogren (Bucknell), Matt Diorio (Central Florida), and Drew Hercik (East Stroudsburg) reached on hits. Shane Servoss (Skagit Valley CC) and James Bonds (San Diego) were able to reach on walks, but that was the only baserunners the Mohawks duo allowed.

Amsterdam scored one run in both the first and fourth innings, and scored two in the second and seventh innings. The Mohawks were aided by 12 Rams’ free passes and two errors in the field. However, the tribe was able to put a bat on the ball as well.

Amsterdam has a day off on Wednesday, but returns to action on Thursday in Albany at Bob Belizzi Field against the I-90 rival, Albany Dutchmen.

Watertown stays in the capital region on Wednesday with a double-header against the Dutchmen starting at 5:05 p.m. with two seven inning games.
