The Amsterdam Mohawks defeated the Albany Dutchmen by a score of 8-2. Josh Gardiner (Radford) and Alex DeBellis (Lynn) had a two-RBI single each to lead the Mohawks to Victory.

Alex DeBellis broke out of a slump with a 2-for-4 night. He had three RBI and scored a run. Connor Johnstone (Wake Forest) had a great night on the mound for Amsterdam. Johnstone pitched seven strong innings, and only made one mistake, which was a two-run homerun to Demetrius Webb (Indiana). Webb’s homerun in the seventh inning was the only substantial offense the Dutchmen had all night.

The first run of the game for the Mohawks came on a bases-loaded groundout for Jonathan Pryor (Wake Forest). Josh Gardiner followed Pryor with a two-RBI single to make it 3-0. 

The Mohawks made it 4-0 in the bottom of the third on an RBI-groundout by Alex Debellis that scored Tommy Kain (Lynn). 

The Mohawks tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to make it 7-0. Alex DeBellis lined a two-RBI single into left field with the bases loaded for his second and third RBI of the game. Josh Gardiner also had another RBI single in the inning to make it 7-0. 

Connor Johnstone was cruising through his seventh inning of work when he let up a two-run homerun to Demetrius Webb. That would be the only two runs the Dutchmen would score all game. 

The Mohawks got one run back in the bottom of the seventh on a bases-loaded RBI-groundout by Tommy Kain.

Connor Johnstone earned the win for Amsterdam. He struckout one, let up five hits, and pitched a solid seven innings in a quality start. Johnstone’s record

improved to 3-1. Jose Hernandez (Dean College) started the game for the Dutchmen and took the loss. Hernandez went 2.2 innings, and allowed four earned runs on five hits and three walks. He failed to strikeout a batter. 

The Mohawks have the day off Friday, but return home on Saturday for a doubleheader against Mohawk Valley. The Dutchmen play four games against the Glens Falls Golden Eagles in the next 48 hours. First they play two at Bob Bellizi Field in Albany on Friday, and then they play two at East Field in Glens Falls on Saturday.
