But the Mohawks would not hold the lead for long as the Pioneers would score five runs in response. A Keegan Maronpot (Wake Forest) 2 RBI single and Hayden Kelly’s (Florida State) three run home run would give Elmira their first lead of the night 6-2.

The Mohawks would quickly respond with three runs in the sixth thanks to a Macy Holdsworth (Indiana) 2 RBI single and a sacrifice fly to left field by Riley Mahan (Kentucky) which scored in Kyle Dean (BYU). A breakdown by the Amsterdam pitching staff would allow eight runs to score in the seventh inning as Joe Randall (Fairfield) and Nygeal Andrews (Radford) would each allow four runs to score through walks, hits and wild pitches as the Pioneers stood patient at the plate and would go through their entire lineup and would take a commanding lead of 14-5.

Pioneers would score two more runs in the eight off a RBI Single by Justin Hayes which scored Jordan Bishop (Siena) and a RBI Single by Maronpot who scored in Taylor Hillson (Mansfield). Making the score 16-5. A solo home run by Justin Yurchak would make the score 16-6 but the next three batters would be retired to end the ball game and the Amsterdam’s eight game win streak.
