Mohawks Drop Crazy Game to DiamondDawgs, 10-9

In a game that saw 12 runs scored in the first inning, it took a ninth inning rally for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs to beat the Amsterdam Mohawks, 10-9.

In the top of the first, Hunter Tackett hit an RBI single, Scott Manea hit a two-RBI double and Tyler Kirkpatrick hit a two-RBI single. In the home half of the inning, Colin Hawk hit an RBI double, Sam Machonis hit a two-RBI double, Andrew Turner hit a three-run home run and an RBI groundout scored the last run of the inning. A Brendan Tracy RBI single in the second got one of the runs back for the Mohawks. 

Macy Holdsworth hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth to tie the game at seven. In the bottom of the seventh, Colin Hawk hit his second RBI double of the game to give the DiamondDawgs the lead right back. But in the top of the ninth, Handsome Monica, who had competed in the Home Run Derby in Little Falls just two days prior, hit a two-run pinch-hit home run to give the Mohawks a 9-8 lead. In the bottom of the ninth, Sam Machonis tied the game with an RBI single and Andrew Turner followed with a walk-off single to give the DiamondDawgs the win.

Zachary Vennaro pitched the top of the ninth inning to get the win for Mohawk Valley while Joe Nellis took the loss for Amsterdam.
