Box Score

The Saugerties Stallions received a great start from Phil Zdanowski to give Amsterdam its second straight loss, beating the Mohawks, 6-1.

Zdanowski (1-4) tossed eight scoreless innings and gave up just four hits with one walk to earn his first win of the season for the Stallions.

Brad Schaenzer (Kentucky) started for the Mohawks and didn't have his best stuff as he suffered his first loss of the season droping his record to 4-1.

Dylan Sprague (Fairleigh Dickinson) tripled in the first inning and gave Saugerties the lead as he scored on a passed ball by Handsome Monica (Arizona). In the third, Sprague hit a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.

Saugerties brought three runs home in the fourth as John Giakas (Fairleigh Dickinson), who was 3-for-4 on the day, hit an RBI single and Eric Downey followed with a 2-run single.

Schaenzer was pulled after the fourth inning after allowing 5 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks with 1 strikeout. Chris Henry (Herkimer) kept the Mohawks in the game as he pitched the final 4 innings.

It wasn't until the eighth inning when Henry finally allowed a Saugerties run to score when John Giakas was caught in a run down between first and second and Chris Reynolds (Manhattan) managed to score from third base to extend the lead to 6-0.

The Mohawks showed a little life in the ninth inning when Zdanowski left the game and Brandon Rivera (Niagara) took over on the mound. Riley Mahan (Kentucky) tripled to right field and scored when Drew Freedman reached base due to an error. Rivera then walked the next two batters to load the bases, but he was able induce a Scott Manea (NC State) ground out to end the game.
