Box Score
The Saugerties Stallions rode a very efficient outing from Nick Massa (Manhattan College) to defeat the Amsterdam Mohawks 7-2 at Shuttleworth Park on Friday night.
Massa went 6.1 innings, allowing 2 ER on 4 hits and 3 walks, striking out 5, and Jack Gonzalez (Stetson) went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI’s and a walk for the Stallions. Will Holland (Auburn) went 1-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Mohawks.
Saugerties started the scoring in the top of the 3rd, as Luke Petterson (Minnesota) collected an RBI single, followed by a wild pitch that scored John Tuccillo (Stony Brook), and an RBI groundout by Gonzalez to put the Stallions up 3-0. An RBI Fielder’s Choice by Petterson in the 4th would stretch Saugherties’ lead to 4.
In the top of the 7th, the Stallions would widen their lead on an RBI single by Gonzalez and a sacrifice fly by Nick Teitter (Hudson Valley C.C.), stretching the score to 6-0.
The Mohawks would get on the board in the bottom of the 7th when Julian Gallup (Niagra) walked with the bases loaded, and would make the score 6-2 on a sac fly by Will Holland (Auburn), but it would prove to not be enough.
Saugerties would add a run in the 8th on an RBI double by Nick Campana (Hartford), and that is how the score would stay to end it.
Nick Massa (Manhattan College) picks up the win for Saugerties, with the loss going to Thomas Laine (Boston College).
The Mohawks will travel to McDonough Park Saturday to take on the Geneva Red Wings, with the first pitch slated for 7:05 PM. The Stallions will return home to Cantine Memorial Veterans Field to host the Oneonta Outlaws, with that game also starting at 7:05 PM.
