Saugerties, NY- The Saugerties Stallions played their third game in two days against the Amsterdam Mohawks at Cantine Field on Saturday, June 24.
Saugerties got two quick outs after Matt Feinstein threw out leadoff batter John Valente (St. Johns) trying to stretch a single into a double. Two batters later, TJ Collett (Kentucky) hit a solo homerun to give Amsterdam a 1-0 lead.
Amsterdam would add another run in the top of the second off a Will Holland (Auburn) triple, which scored Eric Rivera (Florida Atlantic) from third to increase their lead 2-0.
In the top half of the fourth inning, Amsterdam added another run off a sac fly from Holland, to make the lead 3-0.
Amsterdam increased their lead to 4-0 in the top of the sixth after a Collett double and an RBI double from Wilson, scoring Collett. Saugerties would rally in the bottom of the sixth.
The Stallions scored one in the bottom half of the inning from a Feinstein RBI triple, scoring Luke Petterson (Minnesota) after he was hit by a pitch.
Amsterdam would go and add to their lead in the top of the eighth to lead 6-3. In the bottom of the inning, Pat Lagravinese (UAlbany) tripled with one out in the inning and would score after and RBI single from Feinstein. Feinstein would steal third later on in the inning and scored on the error throw by Amsterdam catcher which ended up in left field. The stallions ended the inning trailing 6-3.
Amsterdam scored three more runs in the top of the ninth to make the score 9-3. Saugerties rallied a bit leaving runners on second and first to end the game as they fall to the Mohawks 9-3.
