By Adam Agresta

Box Score

Eric Rivera (Florida Atlantic) hit his second walk-off home run in as many games as the Amsterdam Mohawks took their 11thstraight contest, this one from the Oneonta Outlaws, 7-6, at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam Thursday night.

Rivera went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s and a run scored, and Dylan Reynolds (Fairfield) went 1-2 with 3 RBI’s and a run scored for the Mohawks.  Brendan Brundage (USC Upstate) went 2-5 with 2 RBI’s in the loss.

In the 2nd, the Outlaws would open the scoring in the top of the 2nd on a sacrifice fly by Dorien Jenkins (Wofford), only to surrender the lead to the Mohawks in the bottom of the inning on a 2-RBI double by Dylan Reynolds and an RBI groundout by Dan Maynard (Maryland), making the score 3-1 Mohawks.

Amsterdam would add a run in the 4th inning on a Reynolds sacrifice fly, extending their lead to 4-1, which would stay that way until the top of the 6th, when a Marcus White (Virginia Tech) solo home run and a Brendan Brundage RBI single would cut the Mohawks lead to 1.

In the top of the 8th, the Outlaws would finally tie the game on a Ben Rhodes (Siena/Amsterdam, NY) sacrifice fly.  They would also retake the lead in the inning on an RBI single by Brundage, and extend it on an RBI single by Stone Pellegrino (Wofford) and a throwing error that would allow Brundage to come around to score from 2nd, making it 6-4 Oneonta.

The score would stay that way until the bottom of the 9th, when an RBI groundout by John Valente (St. Johns) would make it 6-5, and a 2-run shot from Rivera would send the Mohawks home with their 11th straight win.

The win goes to Justin Reed (Indiana), who provided an inning of scoreless relief.  The loss goes to Matt Deans (USC Sumter).

The Mohawks travel to East Field tomorrow to take on the Glens Falls Dragons, with the first pitch slated for 7:00 PM.  The Outlaws will return home to Damaschke Field to take on the Saugerties Stallions, with that game set for 7:05 PM.
