Highlights

The Amsterdam Mohawks would fight back from an early deficit to bounce back with a win against the Albany Dutchmen by the score of 6-4 at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam on Monday night.

Matt Gorski (Indiana) went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI’s and 2 runs scored, and Eric Rivera (Florida Atlantic) 1-for-4, collecting his 3rd homer in his last 3 games at Shuttleworth Park.  Nick Estrella (Asuzu Pacific) went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Dutchmen.

The Dutchmen jumped out to an early lead in the top of the 1st, with Nick Estrella (Azuzu Pacific) and Justin Childers (Ohio Dominican) collecting RBI singles to put Albany up 2-0.

In the 3rd, the Mohawks would tie it up on a 2-run RBI single by Matt Gorski, and would take a 3-2 lead a few betters later when Dylan Reynolds (Fairfield) plated Gorski with a single of his own.  The Mohawks would add to their lead in the bottom of the 5th on an Eric Rivera (Florida Atlantic) home run, his 3rd HR in his last 3 home games.

The Dutchmen would cut into that lead in the top of the 7th, scoring an unearned run on a Mohawks error, and another RBI single by Nick Estrella would bring Albany to within a run, making the score 5-4, Amsterdam.  The Mohawks would add insurance, however, in the bottom half of the inning when Matt Gorski scored on a balk by Dutchmen pitcher Mac Welsh (Louisville), making it 6-4.

The win goes to Andrew Saalfrank (Indiana), who went 6.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, 2 of the runs being earned.  The loss goes to Thomas Spinelli (Ole Miss).

The Mohawks have the 4th of July off before heading to Robert Smith Sports Complex in Booneville to take on the Adirondack Trailblazers, with that game slated for a 7:05 PM first pitch.  The Dutchmen will head to Cantine Veterans Memorial Field tomorrow to take on the Saugerties Stallions, with that first pitch being at 6:05 PM.
