By Adam Agresta

Box Score

The Mohawks pitching staff stretched their scoreless streak to 19 innings, as Amsterdam collected its 2nd straight shutout, this one by the score of 4-0 over the Glens Falls Dragons at Shuttleworth Park on Wednesday night in Amsterdam.

Jake Mueller (Wake Forest) went 1-for-4 with 2 RBI’s and Chris Hamilton (Stony Brook) went 2-for-4 with a home run for the Mohawks.  Brian Uliana (Rider) went 1-for-4 to lead Glens Falls.

The Dragons were only able to muster 2 hits in the contest to go with 3 walks and a hit by pitch.  Joe LaSorsa (St. Johns) went the first 5 innings for the Mohawks, giving up the 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3.  Holden White (Walk Forest), Elliot Anderson (Auburn), and Ben Anderson (Binghamton) provided the scoreless relief for the Mohawks.

John Valente got the scoring started quickly, leading the bottom of the 1st off with a home run, his 2nd of the year, to put the Mohawks ahead, 1-0.  Chris Hamilton (Stony Brook) added to the Mohawks lead in the bottom of the 3rd, knocking out a home run of his own to stretch the Mohawks lead to 2.

The score would stay the same until the bottom of the 7th, when the Mohawks loaded the bases before Jake Mueller singled 2 of them home, with Julian Gallup scoring as well on the play when Jake Mueller drew a throw when advancing to 2nd, making it 5-0, Mohawks.

The Mohawks wouldn’t be done, however, as Dalton Skelton (Louisiana Tech) turned on a pitch in the bottom of the 8th, cracking a 3-run home run, his first hit as a Mohawk, to give Amsterdam a commanding 8-0 lead, with the game ending like that.

Joe LaSorsa picks up the win for the Mohawks, while Tom Taplin (Buffalo) is saddled with the loss for Glens Falls.

These teams will meet again tomorrow, Thursday, at East Field in Glens Falls, with the first pitch 7:00 PM.
