Mohawks Defeat Dragons 7-5

The Glens Falls Dragons (15-31) came up short at home against the Amsterdam Mohawks (33-12), 7-4.

Amsterdam got on the board first, claiming a two-run lead through the first inning after an RBI triple from Jake Mueller (Wake Forest) and an RBI single from Eric Rivera (Florida Atlantic) each scored a runner.

The Dragons notched a run of their own late in the second, when Cullen Cicotte (William Peace) singled to bring in Jared Drizin (Bucknell).

Early in the third, the Mohawks added two to their lead, bringing the score to 4-1 Amsterdam through innings.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Dragons tallied a run after a pitch behind the plate allowed another runner to score, bringing the game to 4-2.

Dalton Skelton (Louisiana Tech) had a sac-fly in the top of the seventh to bring in another run for the Mohawks.

Amsterdam notched two more runs in the top of the eighth, making the score 7-2 Mohawks.

Later in the inning, Nick Jacques (Le Moyne) and Owen Wosleger (American International) both doubled to bring in runners, narrowing the gap to 7-4. 

In the bottom of the ninth, Jared Drizin tallied an RBI to bring in Matt Hamel (Siena), ending the game with a score of 7-5 Amsterdam.

The winning pitcher was Thomas Lane (Boston College), Brooks Knapek (UMass) recorded the save, and Lake Robertson (William Carey) took the loss on the mound.

The Dragons return to East Field tomorrow night to face the Oneonta Outlaws. The Mohawks host the Adirondack Trail Blazers at 6:35 for the final fireworks show of the season.
