Hamilton Hits Cycle as Mohawks Win Finale

The Glens Falls Dragons (17-32) dropped their last home game of the season to the Amsterdam Mohawks (33-12) 12-5 Monday night, bringing the series record to 9-3 in favor of the Mohawks this year.

Amsterdam pioneered the night’s scoring early in the first, and added to their lead in the top of the fourth with a double from Chris Hamilton (Stony Brook) and a single from Will Holland (Auburn) that each scored a runner, bringing the score to 3-0 Mohawks.

The Dragons responded to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth after Dalton Ney (Lee) singled, Nick Jacques (Le Moyne) notched a sac fly, and Owen Wosleger (American International) tallied an RBI single to bring the game to 3-3.

Amsterdam fired off five runs early in the fifth, with the go-ahead run scored off of a single from Elliot Anderson (Auburn). The inning ended with a homerun from Hamilton that brought the score to 8-3.

The following inning, the Dragons added a run with an RBI single from Cullen Cicotte (William Peace), making the score to 8-4 through six innings of play.

The Mohawks notched another run in the top of the seventh, and scored again early in the eighth after an RBI single from Anderson to bring the score to 10-4.

Matt Hamel tallied a sac fly late in the eighth to add a run for the Dragons.

Hamilton tripled to score a runner for the Mohawks early in the ninth. The inning, and the game, ended 12-5 Amsterdam.

The winning pitcher was Ben Anderson (Binghamton), and Tyler Mattison (Bryant) took the loss on the mound.

The Dragons finish the season 16-9 at East Field, tying the franchise’s best home record since 2011.
