The Mohawks out hit the Stallions 7-4 on Saturday night, but fell by a score of 2-1 in Saugerties.
Amsterdam took a 1-0 lead in the third as Elvis Peralta Jr. homered, but the Mohawks offence wouldn't score the rest of the way. Saugerties scored both of their runs in the fourth inning. Tyler Kelder lead off with a single, Noah Searcy walked and John Dempsey drove them both in with a double. Dempsey had two doubles in the game and Sam Praytor had a double for the Mohawks for their only other extra base hit.
Trip Lockhart was the tough luck loser for the Mohawks. He went the first 4 innings, allowed 2 runs on 3 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Blake Espinal threw 3 innings of 1 hit ball and Nick DeBrino added a spotless inning with 2 strikeouts.
John Clayton earned his first win of the season by going 7 innings for the Stallions. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits with no walks and 4 strikeouts. Jason Antalek struck out all 3 batters he faced in the eighth and Tyler Germanowski nailed down his first save with a scoreless ninth.
Saugerties improves to 2-6 on the season and will have an off day before Oneonta comes to town on Monday. The Mohawks fall to 3-3 and travel to Glens Falls to face the Dragons at 7:05 on Sunday.
