The Mohawks defeated the Oneonta Outlaws 14-2 on the road Monday night after being swept in a doubleheader in Albany on Sunday.
It started early as the Mohawks scored 5 in the first inning. The Outlaws responded with 2 runs in the first off Mohawks starter Trip Lockhart, but he settled in and held Oneonta off the board for the next 6 innings.
The Mohawks kept up the offensive pressure throughout the game and collected 16 hits. Richie Barrella had 3 hits, including a double, with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. Jake Hammon had 3 hits, scored 3 runs and stole 2 bases. Elvis Peralta hit his 5th home run of the season and drove in 3 runs while Joe Genord drove in 3 runs and scored twice.
Trip Lockhart earned his first win of the season by allowing 2 run on 2 hits with 4 walks and 10 strikeouts and Ben Rhodes pitched the final 2 innings to close it out.
The Mohawks improved to 17-12 with the win and back into a tie with Saugerties for first place in the East Division before a 3 game series against the Stallions starting on Tuesday.
