Foscue hits 11th inning walk-off for 6 in a row

Box Score

The Mohawks played a nailbiter last night with the Elmira Pioneers, forcing extra innings and eventually winning by a score of 4-3.

The Pios had a 3-1 lead that slowly would be chipped away at by the Mohawks, until the bottom of the 9th inning where the Mohawks would tie it up on a bases loaded walk. After failing to convert with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th, the Mohawks would win it in the 11th inning on an RBI single from Justin Foscue (Miss. St.).

Cole Barr (Indiana) went 3-for-4 with a HR, 3B and a sac bunt to lead the Mohawks at the plate.  Jordan Westburg (Miss. St.) went 2-for-3 with a HR, 2B and two walks for Elmira in the loss.

Shane Muntz started the game with 5 innings of 2 run baseball, allowing 6 hits and giving up 2 walks while striking out 7. He let up a solo HR in the 3rd inning off the bat of Jordan Westburg while another run was brought in to score that same inning on a RBI double by Tom Henderson to give the Pios an early 2-0 lead.

The Mohawks would have a homerun of their own leave the yard as Cole Barr slugged a solo shot to bring the score to 2-1 in favor of Elmira.

Elmira would score a run in the top of the 6th as Tom Henderson scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-1, Elmira.

The Mohawks would cut the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the 8th on a Joe Genord (USF) RBI single, and would eventually tie it up in the bottom of the 9th on a bases loaded walk  given up to Johnny Decker (Stony Brook 2018-19).

The score would stay the same until Justin Foscue slapped a fastball down the left field line to give the Mohawks the 4-3 victory.

The Mohawks are home again tomorrow to take on the Utica Blue Sox, with the start time listed at 6:45 PM.  Elmira is off tomorrow before returning home to face the Newark Pilots, with the start time listed at 7:05 PM.
