Saugerties, N.Y.- On Monday night, the Saugerties Stallions defeated the Amsterdam Mohawks 4-0 in Saugerties, in what was the last home game of the season for Saugerties.

3,121 fans packed into the stands to watch the rival teams go head to head. While Amsterdam was able to string eight hits together, no runs came across home plate. Vying for the last playoff spot, it was Saugerties’ game from the beginning.

With Trip Lockhart (Kentucky) in to pitch for Amsterdam and James Gargano (Butler) at the plate, Noah Searcy (Georgia Southern) was the first Saugerties run after an overthrown ball by Mohawks catcher Joe Genord (South Florida).

Saugerties would add to their lead in the sixth, Searcy, Nick Pastore (Brockport), and Gargano opened up the inning with consecutive singles. They all would score, making it a 4-0 game.  Including an RBI-single by Brian Picone (Iona) later in the inning.

Avery Short (Siena) was brilliant for the Stallions throwing seven shutout innings in his first start of the season.

Short earned the victory while the losing pitcher was Lockhart. Saugerties wraps up its season tomorrow night at the Watertown Rapids, while Amsterdam plays the Albany Dutchmen at home tomorrow night, their regular season finale.
