Box Score

The Amsterdam Mohawks season ended last night at Shuttleworth Park with an 8-6 loss to the Jamestown Jammers in game 3 of the PGCBL finals. A quick start for the Mohawks would not be enough to hold off the Jammers from winning their first title after finishing as the runner up last year.

Chase Keng (UTSA) was the star of the night for the Jammers as he hit the go ahead home run, going 1 for 4 with 3 RBI and a run scored. Sterling Hayes (Vanderbilt) had the exact same line as Chase Keng. Alex O’Donnell (Mercyhurst) went 2 for 4 with a run scored. In the loss, Michael Ludowig (Wake Forest) went 2 for 5 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Joe Genord (USF) and Justin Foscue (Miss St.) hit a home run each.

The Mohawks took an early lead in the second inning with the power of the home run. After a walk for Shane Muntz (Wake Forest), Joe Genord would take a pitch deep to left, to give the Mohawks the 2-0 lead. The Mohawks would hit back-to-back home runs on the third consecutive night as Justin Foscue  would hit a home run in the same exact spot giving the Mohawks a 3-0 lead. Amsterdam put up 2 more runs in the third, as Michael Ludowig (Wake Forest) would hit a 2-run homer to right to extend it to 5-0.

Jamestown would join in on the home run frenzy with a Sterling Hayes 3 run home run to close the gap to 5-3. Both teams would tack on an additional run in the 4th inning as Elvis Peralta Jr. (Marshall) would hit an RBI single, scoring Foscue to make it 6-3. The Jammers would answer right back as Jeff Timko (Eastern Michigan) would score on a wild pitch to keep it a 2-run deficit.

The Jammers would take their first lead of the night in the 7th inning as Chase Keng would hit a 3 run home run to make it 7-6 for the Jammers. A sac fly by Ben Livorski (St. Louis) would make it 8-6 in the bottom of the 8th and that would be all. The winning pitcher was Ryan Boyer (Pitt-Bradford) for Jamestown and the losing pitcher would be Tyler Stafflinger (NJIT). The Jamestown Jammers secured their first PGCBL championship by a score of 8-6.
