The Mohawks defeated the Oneonta Outlaws on the road last night by a score of 13-6. Amsterdam scored runs in 6 different innings and put the game away with a 6 run seventh.
The Mohawks took a 1-0 lead in the first as Sam Zayicek singled home Rook Ellington. In the third, the Mohawks went up 2-0 as Kevin Jimenez hit a triple that scored Rook Ellington. In the fourth, Paul Franzoni made it 3-0 with a single that scored Geordon Blanton.
The Outlaws scored 2 in the fourth to cut the lead to 3-2.
In the fifth Kevin Jimenez scored on a wild pitch, but the Outlaws scored 2 runs to tie the game at 4.
In the sixth and seventh the Mohawks took advantage of Oneonta mistakes as walks and errors lead to 3 runs in the sixth and 6 in the seventh to take a 13-4 lead. Oneonta tacked on 2 in the eighth to make it 13-6.
Rook Ellington, Kevin Jimenez and Jackson Wenstrom each had 2 hits and Ellington scored 4 runs. The Mohawks stole 9 bases as Ellington and Jimenez each had 3.
Travis Lane started and went the first 4 innings and didn’t allow a hit until the fourth. Isaac Brown was credited with the win as he pitched a scoreless sixth.
