Mohawks Improve To 4-0 With 4-0 Win

By Jonathan Kaiser

A solid pitching performance from the Mohawks netted them a 4-0 win over the Albany Dutchmen, making it 4 straight for the Mohawks to open up the season.

Tyler Stuart, Chris Barraza, Ryan Cardona, and Dylan Smith combined for 9 innings of shutout ball, surrendering 6 hits, 1 run, and striking out 12.

It was a bit of a different story for the Albany Dutchmen staff, who only gave up 3 hits, but walked 8 batters, and surrendered 4 runs.

After 3 quick innings of work from Logan Savell of Albany, a troubling 4th for the Albany Dutchmen allowed the Mohawks to take the lead. J.D Mundy scored the 1st run of the game after walking, taking second on a passed ball, and scoring on Julio Cortez’s double down the right field line. Soon after, a pair of passed balls allowed Julio Cortez to score making it 2-0. Later in the inning, second baseman Geordon Blanton walked, stole second base and then scored on another pair of passed balls, one being a dropped 3rd strike, making it 3-0 Mohawks.

The Mohawks pitching staff took care of the rest as the Mohawks cruised to a 4-0 victory.
The Mohawks will be in Little Falls tomorrow night to take on the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs who come off a recent 12-9 win over the Adirondack Trail Blazers.
