The Mohawks improved to 6-1 as they defeated the Adirondack Trail Blazers on the road Sunday by a score of 11-5.
The Mohawks took a 1-0 lead in the first as Michael Turconi doubled and later scored on a passed ball. In the third the Mohawks went up 2-0 as J.D. Mundy scored on a Kevin Jimenez sac-fly.
The Mohawks broke it open in the fourth with a 5-run inning. 2 singles and a walk loaded the bases, then J.D. Mundy and Max Costes were hit by pitches to force in a pair of runs. Mitch Hartigan drove in 2 runs on a fielder’s choice and Kevin Jimenez singled home Hartigan as the Mohawks took a 7-0 lead.
In the sixth the Mohawks made it 8-0 as Max Costes scored on a bases loaded walk to Drew Kendall.
The Trail Blazers couldn’t figure out Travis Lane on the mound as he only allowed 1 hit in 5 innings and struck out 2 with no walks. Adirondack finally got on the board in the sixth when the Mohawks went to the bullpen. Connor Hamilton hit a double off Chris Barraza and scored on a passed ball to make it 8-1.
In the seventh the Mohawks made it 9-1 as Geordon Blanton homered for 1 of his 3 hits on the day.
In the eighth Julio Cortez hit a 2-run home run to make it 11-1. Dale Stanavich pitched the last 2 innings for the Mohawks and the Trail Blazers strung together 4 runs to make it 11-5.
