The Mohawks had an outstanding pitching performance as they came away with a 4-2 win in Saugerties Friday night.
Amsterdam only allowed 3 hits in the game. Starter David Harrison went the first 5 innings and only allowed 1 hit, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. The Stallions scored 1 run off Tyler Stafflinger, who pitched the sixth and seventh and Dylan Smith earned the save as he pitched the final 2 innings and allowed 1 unearned run without allowing a hit.
The Mohawks were on the board in the fourth inning as Johnny Decker hit a sac-fly that scored Rook Ellington.
In the fifth, J.D. Mundy hit an RBI double that scored Geordon Blanton to make it 2-0.
In the seventh, Michael Turconi scored on a Mitch Hartigan single to make it 3-0 and in the ninth, J.D. Mundy drove in Michael Turconi with a single to put the Mohawks up 4-1.
David Harrison picked up the win in his Mohawks debut and Dylan Smith earned his first save as the Mohawks improved to 7-2. The Stallions fell to 5-6 as Trent Schoeberl was the losing pitcher.
The Mohawks are back in action Saturday night as they host the Utica Blue Sox at 6:35 PM. Saturday will be Fireworks night sponsored by Rick's RoBo Car Wash.
