Mohawks Win Fifth in a Row, Defeat Dragons 8-2

The Mohawks won their fifth game in a row with an 8-2 victory over the Glens Falls Dragons on Wednesday night at East Field.

Amsterdam took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Johnny Decker drove in Max Costes with a single.

Glens Falls got to Mohawks starter Nick Massa in the fourth when Hunter Tabb hit a 2-run double to put the Dragons in front 2-1.

The Mohawks tied the game in the sixth when Mitch Hartigan and Max Costes hit back-to-back doubles. Amsterdam took the lead back 3 batters later when Dalton Reese drove in Costes and Kevin Jimenez with a single to put the Mohawks up 4-2.

In the seventh, Mitch Hartigan hit a single to plate Rook Ellington and Michael Turconi scored on a wild pitch to give the Mohawks a 6-2 lead. Amsterdam put up 2 more runs in the eighth when Kevin Jimenez scored on a wild pitch and Rook Ellington drove in Dalton Reese with a single.

Mitch Hartigan had 3 hits, including a double and Max Costes raised his league leading average to .452 as he went 1-for-2 with a double and 3 walks (raising his OBP to .605).

Nick Massa started and went the first 4 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Isaac Brown picked up his second win while Drew Wilden, Ryan Cardona and Cole Dainels finished the game.

The Mohawks will host the Saugerties Stallions at 6:35 on Thursday. It will be Amsterdam Night sponsored by Fidilis, Wolf Hollow will have a craft beer tasting, it'll be Thirsty Thursday and Teacher's Night
