On Tuesday the first place Mohawks defeated the second place Albany Dutchmen by a score of 10-4.
Albany took a 1-0 lead in the first when Aaron Roose hit an RBI triple.
The Mohawks scored 5 in the third, Geordon Blanton opened the scoring with a 2-run home run. Rook Ellington then scored on a error. Mitch Hartigan doubled; and after an intentional walk to Max Costes, Kevin Jimenez hit a 2-run double as the Mohawks went up 5-1.
In the fourth, Geordon Blanton scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-1.
Albany got 1 in the fifth on a Tommy Pellis home run and 1 in the sixth on a sac-fly, but the Mohawks scored 3 more in the bottom of the sixth. Rook Ellington hit an RBI double, and DJ Poteet hit a 2-run home run as Amsterdam took a 9-3 lead.
In the eighth Mitch Hartigan made it 10-3 with an RBI triple. Hartigan finished 3-for-5 in the game and was a home run shy of the cycle.
Albany scored once more in the ninth on a sac-fly, but the Mohawks came away with the 10-4 victory.
Nick Massa (1-0) picked up the win as he went 5 innings and gave up 2 runs on 4 hits with no walks and 4 strikeouts. Tyler Stafflinger, Drew Wilden, Will Gambino and Dylan Smith each pitched an inning to close out the game.
