19 Hits Lead Mohawks Over Dawgs, 13-2

The Amsterdam Mohawks defeated the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs 13-2 on Saturday night in the final fireworks game of the year.

Amsterdam scored 2 in the first as Dalton Reese and Mitch Hartigan scored. The Mohawks and starter Brendan Disonell held the DiamondDawgs off the board until the third inning when Owen Wosleger scored on a Jacob Josey single to make it 2-1.

Mohawk Valley tied it up at 2 in the fourth when Matthew Tobin scored, but the Mohawks took the lead back when Paul Franzoni tripled to drive in Geordon Blanton and then scored when Dalton Reese reached on an error as Amsterdam took a 4-2 lead.

Brendan Disonell went the first 4 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. The Mohawks held Mohawk Valley off the board for the rest of the game as Will Gambino threw a scoreless fifth. Dylan Smith allowed 1 hit with 3 strikeouts in the sixth and seventh and Matt Gonzales allowed 2 hits with 3 strikeouts in the eighth and ninth to close out the game.

The Mohawks went up 5-2 in the fifth when Geordon Blanton drove in Landon Jordan with a single.

In the sixth, Max Costes drove in Paul Franzoni with a single and with the bases loaded; Michael Turconi hit a 3-run triple that drove in Costes, Landon Jordan and Mitch Hartigan as the Mohawks took a 9-2 lead.

In the seventh, the Mohawks scored another 4 runs and took a 13-2 lead. Dalton Reese hit a 2-run single scoring Paul Franzoni and Rook Ellington. Landon Jordan drove in Reese with a single and then scored on a Michael Turconi single.

The Mohawks had 19 hits in the game; Mitch Hartigan had 4 and scored twice. Michael Turconi was 3-for-5 with a triple, 4 RBI and stole a base. Dalton Reese had 3 hits with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Brendan Disonell was credited with the win and Cole Miller took the loss.
