The Amsterdam Mohawks completed their regular season home schedule on Tuesday night as they took on the Saugerties Stallions.
Mitch Hartigan started his second game of the season on the mound for the Mohawks and went four full innings allowing just one run.
The Mohawks struck first in this one as they have in five of six home meetings against Saugerties this season as Max Costes muscled a homerun over the right field fence on his 20th birthday. The homerun extended the Maryland product’s Mohawks single season homerun record, which now sits at 12.
Landon Jordan extended the Amsterdam lead to 4-1 in the fifth when he lead off the inning with a solo homerun to left field.
Sam Zaychiek also homered in this one for Amsterdam as he blasted a two-run shot to right in the sixth.
The game was called in the seventh due to lighting in the area with the Mohawks leading by a score of 6-3.
Mitch Hartigan got his first win, as he is now 1-0 and Brendan Disonell got his first save as the Mohawks improve to 33-13. Trent Schoeberl took the loss and fell to 2-4 while the Stallions dropped to 26-19.
The Mohawks will be back in Amsterdam on Thursday in the first game of the playoffs as they again take on the Saugerties Stallions.
