Amsterdam, NY -- Mohawks fall to Stallions in extras 8-6
The Saugerties Stallions took down the Mohawks in 10 innings by a score of 8-6 in Amsterdam on Tuesday night. James Flood gets the pitching win for the Stallions and Brian Yetter is hit with the loss for the Mohawks.
The Mohawks took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first thanks to a 2-run homer from first baseman Kai Roberts. The game remained 2-0 until the 5th inning where the Stallions responded with three runs in the frame. The Mohawks came back scoring 1 more to tie it on an RBI double by Brett Coker driving in Roberts.
The Stallions tacked on 2 more in the top of the 7th, and the Mohawks scored one in the bottom half of the 7th and then one more in the bottom half of the 8th to tie the game up at 5. Amsterdam could not put one across in the ninth, sending it to extras.
In extras, the Stallions put across 3 in the top half of the 10th, which was just too much for the Mohawks to handle as they could only respond with one in the bottom half.
The Mohawks host the Blue Sox on Thursday at Shuttleworth Park.
