Amsterdam, NY -- Mohawks defeat Outlaws 8-4

The Amsterdam Mohawks beat the Oneonta Outlaws by a score of 8-4 on Friday night at Rao Family Stadium at Shuttleworth Park. The Mohawks were carried by the bat of Right Fielder CJ Funk, who went 2-5 with 2-RBI doubles. On the mound for the Mohawks was Connor Bovair, who threw 4 strong innings.

The big blast for the Outlaws came off the bat of Brenden Harris, who launched a solo shot over the left field fence in the 4th inning. The Outlaws mustered 3 other runs across the plate for the night, but that was not enough to keep up with the high powered Amsterdam offense.

The Mohawks’ hottest hitter Brett Coker kept his great season going with a 3-4 day and also a hit by pitch. Maryland product Matt Shaw had a 3-4 showing in his Mohawks debut. The Mohawks are in Albany for a doubleheader against the Dutchmen on Saturday.
