On the bright side, baring a Championship matchup, the Mohawks have played their final road game of the year. Amsterdam played at Oneonta Monday night and were handed their third straight road loss by a score of 8-3 at the hands of the Outlaws.
Oneonta set the tone in the first inning. After a 1-2-3 top of the first, Matthew Carrera got the Outlaws going with a single. After that Mohawks starter Nolan Feidt lost command of the strike zone and issued 4 straight walks to give Oneonta a 1-0 lead. Darren Dengler followed with a sac-fly to score Dane Richards to make it 2-0. Then with runners on the corners, Kole Waterman was picked off and thrown out trying to steal second, however the inning ending out wasn’t recorded before Zach Porter came home with the game’s third run.
Amsterdam would get on the board in the top of the second as John McKillop reached on an error that would allow Brandon McCraine to score to cut the deficit to 3-1.
The Mohawks would tie the game in the fourth. Luke Costello led off the inning with a single and scored on a Brandon McCraine triple. Brett Rowell followed with a ground out to bring in McCraine and tie the game at 3.
The Outlaws struck back in the fifth. A hit batter and a single set up Matthew Carrera to hit a go-ahead RBI double to give the Outlaws a 4-3 advantage. Dane Richards followed with a ground out that drove in Kaz Uehara and Zach Porter hit a double to drive in Carrera and give Oneonta a 6-3 lead.
In the sixth, Owen Burnsworth singled and an error allowed Ian Wirtz to score and in the seventh, Zach Porter hit an RBI triple to score Dane Richards and make it 8-3.
Brandon McCraine led the way offensively for the Mohawks with 3 hits, a triple, an RBI, 2 runs scored and stole a base. Zach Porter led the way for the Outlaws with a double, a triple, 2 RBI and a run scored.
Asa Dugan was the winning pitcher improving to 2-2 for the 9-31 Outlaws. Cole Miller took the loss falling to 2-2 for the 30-11-2 Mohawks.
The Mohawks return home tomorrow night to host the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs at 6:35 PM.
