NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – Amsterdam right handed pitcher James Redick has been named the 2025 PGCBL Pitcher of the Year, becoming the fourth member of the Amsterdam Mohawks organization to win the award.
Redick posted a 2.14 earned run average over 33.2 innings pitched in his second season with Amsterdam. He was a perfect 5-0 over his 11 regular season appearances and also earned one save. He gave up just 15 hits in 33.2 innings, never giving up more than three hits in any appearance.
Between July 6th and the end of the season, Redick was virtually untouchable. He made four starts and allowed just one run on seven hits. Redick issued just two walks and struck out 24 batters over that stretch.
On July 13th, Redick went six innings and allowed two hits and no walks while striking out eight in an 8-0 Amsterdam win at Mohawk Valley.
Opposing batters hit just .132 against Redick, who struck out 36 total batters and walked just seven during the 2025 season.
Redick is about to enter his second year at Fordham University, pitching for the Rams and majoring in Finance.
Redick joins Chandler Shepherd (2012), Zach Logue (2015) and Nick Smith (2021) as Mohawks to win PGCBL Pitcher of the Year. Shepherd and Logue have both reached the Major Leagues, with Shepherd debuting for Baltimore in 2019 and Logue pitching for Oakland, Detroit, and the LA Dodgers from 2022-24.
Nominations for Pitcher of the Year were done in conjunction with the selection of All-League Teams, which will be announced on Friday, August 8th. Each team submitted one nominee for Pitcher of the Year and the winner was chosen by the PGCBL league office.
