The Seattle Mariners have signed LHP Cole Cheatham to a minor league contract.

Cheatham pitched for the Mohawks in 2022 from Mississippi State. Making 8 starts, he went 3-1 with a 4.06 ERA and struck out a staggering 47 batters in 31 innings. His final game with the Mohawks was his most impressive as he pitched 5-shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit and recorded 11 strikeouts as the Mohawks defeated the Glens Falls Dragons 16-6. The Mohawks would go on to defeat the Batavia Muckdogs in the PGCBL Championship and were named the National Summer Collegiate Team of the Year by Perfect Game USA following the season.

The impressive strikeout numbers continued through college as he spent three years at Mississippi State and one year at Alabama-Birmingham. He recorded an even 100 strikeouts in 98.1 innings over his collegiate career. Including his summer ball stats, Cheatham averaged 10.4 strikeouts per 9 innings over his collegiate career.

Cheatham becomes the seventh member of the Mohawks 2022 team to turn pro.
