Box Score
Brendan Shea tossed four scoreless innings along with seven strikeouts. At the plate, Anthony DeCesare and Taylor Belza each had three RBIs as Amsterdam mercied Oneonta 14-4.
Shea’s mix of off-speed pitches kept the Outlaws on their heels, helping him to seven swinging strikeouts and keeping his ERA at 0.00. The Mohawks' offense tallied five extra-base hits and drew six walks, accounting for 10 runs through the first four innings.
Andrew Ezell got the Mohawks started with an RBI double into the right field corner. Through the first three innings, Shea settled into a great rhythm with five strikeouts and just one walk.
In the third, DeCesare mashed a no-doubt three home run to dead center, extending Amsterdam’s lead to 4-0. The next inning, Amsterdam executed a perfect hit and run, helping load the bases for Jordan Perry. Perry and Correra each added RBIs to make the score 6-0.
Gabriel Rivera and Belza smoked bases-clearing doubles into the left and right field gap to blow the game open at 10-0. The Outlaws finally got on the board with a four-run sixth inning, induced by two hit-by-pitches and an RBI single from Gus Simon.
Amsterdam closed the game out in the seventh inning for their second straight mercy-rule win over the Outlaws.
The Mohawks will get the day off and then stay home to host the Glens Falls Dragons on Thursday, June 18. The Dragons defeated Amsterdam 8-7 on June 9th, marking Glen Falls' first win over Amsterdam in four years. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
